My favorite function in Rigelian 4.0 is the rediscover view that a random selection of 25 album from the library. I often listen a lt to the recent albums I bought (since 6 months I put myself on a 1 album per week diet), but when I want something else I revert to the rediscover view and pick something from whatever is shown there. This brings back albums from different time periods and genres, and there’s always something nice to choose.
Just now I got a nice selection that included Mötorhead, Lou Reed, Teenage Fanclub, The XX amongst others, but I decided to go for channel ORANGE from Frank Ocean. I missed this album when it came out in 2012, but picked up a 2nd-hand CD some time ago. It’s a bit outside my usual indie / americana / pop / rock area, but I have played it a lot actually. My favorite track is Pyramids, with John Mayer on guitar. Apparently it’s about Egypt, but in my mind I connected the line ‘Working at the Pyramid tonight’ with a girl working at or near the Pyramid stage at the Glastonbury festival, like behind a bar or something. Not that I have ever been to Glastonbury…
